Tokyo Disney Sea Imagineers Unveil More Details About TDS Port Discovery "Nemo and Friends SeaRider" Attraction
Tokyo Disney Resort released a new Imagineering video providing plenty of new details for Tokyo Disney Sea's Port Discovery new ride "Nemo and Friends SeaRider" opening on May 12 at TDS!
Riders will enter the redesigned show building called now "Marine Life Institute"...
The goal for TDS Imagineer was to make immerse the guests as much as possible. To achieve this they had the idea that guests will enter in a "SeaRider" submarine designed like Nemo, though with different colors...
But how do you do when you have 122 guests per ride? In the storyline the submarine is built with a new material which shrink when you apply electricity to it. And that includes everything or everyone on board. So, the SeaRider submarine will give to all Nemo and friends the illusion to shrink to the side of a fish and then travel on an awesome undersea journey.
And the way TDS Imagineers will give to guests the feeling they are the size of a fish is thanks to the beautiful curved screen in the front of the simulator with ten others small screens above, left and right, through which guest can look up to the ocean, and they've also added sound effects of rumble in the seats and all kind of magical tricks to make guests feel like they are really immersed undersea during this journey.
Nemo and friends SeaRider will open on May 12, in just two weeks from now, with probably soft-openings a few days before so a video of the ride should arrive every soon. in the meantime don't miss this great Imagineering video below!

Just released by the folks of D23, and it's about the music in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy ride at DCA: "Get Ready to Rock Out on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!:
Guardians of the Galaxy is just as well known for its awesome music as it is for its irreverent comedy and lovable, quirky characters, and the brand-new attraction at Disney California Adventure park is no different. If you’ve been wondering which of the songs would be on the attraction’s awesome mix, wonder no more! We got the inside scoop from the folks behind the new attraction, opening May 27 at Disney California Adventure park.
John Dennis, executive creative director of music at Walt Disney Imagineering (how cool is that job?), told us about the process for coming up with the six songs you can hear during a rockin’ ride on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! John and his team used Star-Lord’s awesome mix as a starting point, and ended up testing out 100 different songs to find the right fit. The six chosen for the attraction are the perfect mix of fun and funky and help make each ride on the thrilling attraction a truly unique experience. Check out the “playlist” below and let us know which song you’re most excited to hear during your first ride on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!"
“I Want You Back” – The Jackson 5
“Hit Me With Your Best Shot” – Pat Benatar
“Give Up the Funk” – Parliament
“Born to Be Wild” – Steppenwolf
“Burning Love” – Elvis Presley
“Free Ride” – The Edgar Winters Group
Now, i have to say - even if i'm among those who is not specially excited by this GoG ride - that it's a pretty smart move from WDI Imagineers. Why? Because it's true that the soundtrack of the first GoG movie did a lot for the spectators enjoyment of the movie and even if the ride has nothing special - after all we all know that it'll be a elevator which will fall because this has not been changed - people will most probably enjoy the famous songs and so they may get out of the ride liking it when in fact it's the music played during the ride that made it special or even memorable. See what i mean? Very smart move from WDI folks.

With just one month prior to its opening let's have a look to Universal Orlando Volcano Bay water park which is almost ready to welcome its first guests.
Eye Aerial has posted a great new drone video - and filmed in 4K - of Universal Orlando Volcano Bay water park, which provide stunning footage as seen from above. The pools have not yet been filled with water so you'll need to imagine how it will look with a crystal clear turquoise color water!
That said, my main concern is about the immersion feeling as i'm curious to see if it will work with the highway located right behind Volcano Bay...
Let's have a look now closer to the ground with this other video filmed by Alicia Stella posted just three days ago!
Can't wait to see how it will look on opening day next month!

Disney Parks released the first "official" pictures of Guardians of Galaxy Collector’s Fortress at DCA - and they've shot the pictures at "magic hour" - at the end of the afternoon - to make sure it'll look as good as possible!
From the Disney Parks Blog: "This enigmatic building is home to the soon-to-be-unveiled Tivan Collection, where guests will view the rare items in Taneleer Tivan’s extensive holdings, including his newest acquisitions: the Guardians of the Galaxy.
The fortress shimmers with colorful and sparkling details; pipes cross and climb the exterior, carrying the organic matter the Tivan Group has mined to power the massive generator that powers the entire building, keeping every cage locked and the valuable collection secure. Rising and falling gantry lifts peek out of doors exposed through the corroded, burnt metal, and it even looks as if the structure may have taken laser fire and blasts. Has someone tried to attack the facility?"
As you know the Guardians of Galaxy - Mission : Breakout ride will open on May 27 at Disney's California Adventure.

Here are the latest news about Pandora : The World of Avatar opening at Disney's Animal Kingdom in five weeks from now! Bloomberg Business Week has posted a long article not only about it but also about the competition with Universal Studios, and you can read it HERE. They've also posted in the article brand new daytime and nighttime pictures of Pandora, shot by Stephen Wilkes, like the ones you have above and below ( click to enlarge the pictures ).
The Chicago Tribune has also posted an article HERE about Pandora in which we learn that "the period backdrop of this Pandora is a full generation after the original movie. By now, all conflicts have been resolved, and, within Pandora's floating mountains and multicolored rainforest, all storylines can begin with a clean slate.
To experience Flight of Passage, "you proceed through sacred caverns resembling (Cambodia's) Angkor Wat and end up at a technological facility," Rodhe says of the approach to the ride's boarding station. En route, instructional lessons are provided in preparation for this Na'vi rite of passage. Once properly advised, "you will fly on the back of a banshee. You're going to plunge, you're going to dive, you're going to swoop," Cameron said in a Disney World promotional video. "It's like dreaming with your eyes wide open."
The high-rush experience is programmed to last a good four minutes, "because you can only fly so long," Rodhe says. He further notes that the acrobatic adventure has been tested against nausea, although he does admit, "Little kids might be scared." Asked if the Flight of Passage might be compared to Soarin' Around the World at Disney World's adjacent Epcot, Rodhe responds, "This isn't Soarin'. It's more like Flyin'."
Joe Rhode then talks about the Na'vi River Journey. "Rodhe calls the ride "a romantic musical journey into 'bioluminescence.'" (This much-used scientific term means "the emission of light by living organisms" — so think fireflies and jellyfish, only on Pandora, the flora and fauna and even the ground itself also contribute to a phosphorescent rainbow of light.)
In this instance, visitors will board reed boats "as the beauty of the forest unravels before us," says Rodhe. Along the way, expect to be met by "a rich species of animals," with the adventure culminating in an encounter with the Na'vi shaman of songs. According to her press bio, the shaman "has a deep connection to the life force of Pandora and sends positive energy into the forest through her music."
Talking about forest, here is a night picture of a Pandoran forest...
...and below a new Imagineering video in which members of the project team give us the first detailed look at the land’s interactive plants, tell us how you’ll be able to hear and sense different animals throughout the land, and interact with bioluminescence at night.
Pandora will also dish up its own distinctive quick-service restaurant, the Satu'li Canteen, where planet-to-table fare runs the gamut from customized quinoa and vegetable salad bowls to steamed "pods" filled with either a cheeseburger or vegetable curry.
Nearby, the drink stand calls itself Pongu Pongu, after an expat to Pandora, and the Disney beverage team put together a fun, creative menu of libations. To match the “pods” (bao buns) and bowls at Satu’li Canteen, the Pandoran Sunrise is a non-alcoholic mix of tropical Juices blended with Powerade Melon – you can get in the souvenir Satu’li Canteen Flute Flask.
Wine by the glass is Banshee, a small Napa Valley winery with a serendipitous name (guests fly on the back of a mountain banshee on the exciting Avatar Flight of Passage experience). A Banshee Chardonnay and Banshee Pinot Noir are on the menu by the glass. And there’s a refreshing Dreamwalker Sangria with a splash Blue Curaçao.
Two ales round out the beverage menu: Hawkes’ Grog Ale with a fruity hop character (a taste of apricot and peach, a hint of wheat on the finish), and Mo’ara High Country Ale, a malty amber ale with the aroma of herbal spice hops and tastes of caramel, toffee, and nuts.
Next door at the Pongu Pongu walk-up window, the Night Blossom frozen drink is a non-alcoholic mixture of limeade with apple and desert pear flavors topped with passion fruit boba balls (you can get in a souvenir Pongu Pongu mug with a glow cube).
The Mo’ara Frozen Margarita is another frozen drink with Sauza Conmemorativo Añejo Tequila with strawberry and blood orange flavor topped with strawberry boba balls - which will also be available in a souvenir mug.
Also, WDW website just released a new image of what looks to be the Banshee Connect experience in Pandora. According to the Pandora website: “Banshee Connect” service is where you will be matched with a tiny version of the beast; a robotic creature that you can take home with you for a price."
Apparently DAK guests will have the choice in “Banshee Connect” of small Banshee perched on a wall and WDWNT think that a guest "will somehow be linked ( Ndr: from the ride ) with one Banshee in particular that they can then purchase and take home". This Banshee Connect service may be located inside the Windtraders shop in the Pandora land.
DAK guests might be surprised how the land - although super immersive - might look smaller than they thought. Which lea me to this question: why didn't they use the land that you can see on the picture below where is a quite big parking lot? Personally i would have put the big show building more in the back where the parking lot is and it would have give more space for Pandora's vegetation in front of it. May be the've kept the space where is the parking lot for future rides additions? Time will tell...
Pandora: The World of Avatar will open on May 27th at Disney's Animal Kingdom!

Mondo Announces “Never Grow Up: A Disney Art Show” With New Gorgeous Artworks Inspired by Disney Animated Films
Mondo announces their next gallery show for a series of new gorgeous artworks, “Mondo x Cyclops Print Works Present Never Grow Up: A Disney Art Show”, featuring the work of more than 25 of Mondo’s most renowned artists taking on their favorite Disney films, “Mondo x Cyclops Print Works Present Never Grow Up: A Disney Art Show” invites fans of all ages to explore exciting new interpretations of Disney’s beloved classic and modern masterpieces.
The show kicks off with two events, free and open to the public and the opening night reception will be held Friday, April 28 from 3:00 – 10:00pm, followed by a special “Mondo Clubhouse” Kids Party on Saturday, April 29, from 10am – Noon featuring Disney-inspired treats, face painting, photo booth, and other fun activities! Following these events, the show will run during regular gallery hours (12PM - 6PM) through May 13th. Mondo Gallery is located at 4115 Guadalupe Street in Austin, TX.
Here's a look at just a few of the pieces that will be featured in the show:
"I think that 101 DALMATIANS is the most beautiful of the Disney films, principally as it was the first time they used the artists' original line drawings in the final cells through the process of the copy machine,” said artist Jonathan Burton. “The line work is sketchy, the color misaligned and it makes for a style full of life. My poster pays tribute to this, and in particular the rough production drawings of Disney’s Ken Anderson who himself was inspired by Ronald Searle.”
"I think ALADDIN is peak modern Disney, so having the chance to do my own take on it is pretty much a dream project,” said artist Matt Taylor. “I wanted to try and incorporate some classical Arabian styling and decoration into the piece, but I think the most enjoyable part was getting to draw that Genie busting out of the lamp. The first Mondo/Disney show was one of my all time favorites that they have thrown, and I’d been hoping that they’d go back to the well. I’ve got one wish granted now, better figure out what to do with the other two..."
“Watching a Disney movie together with my kids is amazing, but making artwork for one of their favorite films takes it to the next level,” said artist Ken Taylor. “BIG HERO 6 is my eldest daughter's favorite, and I love so much about this film. The story is super fun but its the city that gets me in; the opportunity to draw San Fransokyo has been a blast and one of the best film poster experiences I have had. Hopefully folks dig it as much as I do.”

An Inside Look at Star Wars Land Imagineers Creating Star Wars Land ! New Artwork, Pictures, Videos, and more !
Now, let's have a closer look at it, would we? Let's start with the new artworks unveiled by this video showing scenes that will ( or eventually will not ) be created inside Star Wars land. Definitely click on each picture to see them in big size!
The artwork below is not really new but i add it here because of its good quality.
Now, we also have in this video plenty of great shots of Star Wars land Imagineers at work, whether they're drawing or painting...
...Sculpting models of buildings, mountains or creatures of the land...
...or testing the future attractions whether in virtual reality of in the "real" cockpit for the Millenium Falcon ride.
And we also learn from the horse's mouth - i.e Imagineer Scott Trowbridge - exciting new details about the story behind this mysterious destination somewhere on the Outer Rim — lying on the edge of the Unknown Regions: "It's a new planet, a new place, the land has always been there, we are only just now able toe experience it. It's a remote frontier outpost that used to be a vibrant port but its prominence has fallen and faded a bit, but the most interesting people will be there". The remote village was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but the prominence of the outpost has been bypassed with the rise of hyperspace travel. Now home to those who prefer less attention, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe-haven for others intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order. Unusual characters from across the galaxy have landed here, preferring the “no questions asked” environment as well as easy access to exotic supplies and an abundant supply of ready rogues looking to join a crew for their next adventure."
Imagineer Wendy Anderson added "There will be a presence of the Resistance and the First Order."And about the Millenium Falcon ride Imagineer Asa Kalma said "We're not just going to let you ride the Millenium Falcon, we're going to let you control the Millenium Falcon. You and your flight crew are going to be responsible for piloting". Many Astromech Droids will hang around in the land and blue milk will be available as drinks, too!
Don't miss the video of the full Star Wars Land panel filmed by Inside the Magic where you'll learn much more from WDI Imagineers!
Now, don't go away as there is more Star Wars news as Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald also announced that a new movie will be added to Star Tours late 2017 and the action will take place on the new planet Crait from Star Wars 8!
